Do we suffer alone?

In His time of greatest suffering and greatest need, Christ was abandoned and even denied by those closest to Him.

At the times when we suffer our greatest and deepest pains, are we as misunderstood as Christ was? Are we, in an earthly sense, alone?

Christ is with us in our sufferings, but often He is one of few. His mother is with us as she was with her son at the foot of the cross. This should bring us great consolation.

But what of those in this earthly life who fear or do not understand our suffering or our pain? Do they deny and flee as the disciples did? Is this how we suffer in Christ?

Perhaps our sufferings are far mor Christ-like than we have realized.

May we rise again.
